2014 Mobile World Congress: SAMSUNG Electronics Introduces New Advanced Concepts for Better Network Connections

At the 2014 Mobile World Congress, SAMSUNG Electronics introduced and demonstrated the company’s new improved concepts and solutions towards advanced networks. Under the theme, ‘Elegant Connections, Possibilities Redefined’, the 2014 MWC had SAMSUNG Electronics showcase its advanced network solutions portfolio in order to address the era of smart devices and the flood of multimedia radio traffic, as well as other several challenges experienced by mobile operators, including:

The three new concepts that SAMSUNG Electronics were showcased to address several challengers. These new concepts and the benefits they will pose to mobile operators are the following:

• High Density Cell Solutions: Enhanced Network Performance
• Evolutions in Carrier Aggregation: Innovative Business Enablement
• Smart Media Networks: Differentiated Subscriber Experience

High density cells became more than just an option due to the increasing traffic of mobile data. In lieu to this fact, SAMSUNG has thought of an operative system in order to make it possible to use large number of cells. The company concluded that the adoption of the Smart Networks technology, capable of allocating network resource with the use of cell-based interference and centralized control. Considered the most ideal solution for dense urban areas, the Smart Networks technology is backed up by the company’s deep expertise in networks deployment for highly populated and dense areas. In addition to this, SAMSUNG’s High Density Cell will be configured and optimized with C-RAN and a solutions with Smart Self Organizing Network (SON) integrated in it.

The second new concept that SAMSUNG proposed is the evolution in Carrier Aggregation. It is the best solution and at the same time most critical one for LTE, through the use of several frequency bands, which makes it important in the development of the technology. SAMSUNG’s answer to this need is called the Smart CA, the company’s own CA solution. Using this advanced technology, SAMSUNG will power the networks and in the end cause several changes and improvements, including:

• Improved Cell Edge Performance
• Large Coverage with Powerful Data Off-loading Capability
• Significant Mobile Data Speed Enhancements

And lastly, with the need of the mobile network to be enhanced in terms of multimedia delivery due to the quick burst of smartphones proliferation, SAMSUNG sees the company’s Smart Media Network capable of working out this challenge. Increasing mobile end-users’ experience, the SAMSUNG Smart Media Network includes:

• Advanced CDN solutions
• Mobile Network Analytics
• Smart CacheTM

In addition to that, the network is also coupled with management tools for operator-ready suite of intelligent network and expanded content transmission capabilities.
