South Korea’s National emergency Management Agency (NEMA) uses Polycom RealPresence Video Collaboration to Improve Results and Responses of the Organization

Polycom, Inc. announced the subscription of the South Korea’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Polycom® RealPresence® video collaboration solutions. The solutions was expected to improve the emergency response teams’ collaboration and communication, considering they are scattered across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. And with teams scattered nationwide who able to share content and meet face-to-face despite the distance through a single video collaboration session, decision-making process is accelerated. And even better, there was also improvement in the quality of the decisions made since specialists and experts were just one click away, wherever they currently may be.

The National Emergency Management Agency of South Korea decided to use Polycom video collaboration solutions, which included the Polycom® HDX® 9000 room system. This room system enables easy and seamless connection between the central disaster and safety countermeasures teams at the headquarters and the disaster control centers and government agencies nationwide. This also includes the teams from the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, including:

• Busan
• Daegu
• Daejeon
• Gwangju
• Incheon
• Sejong City

The entire collaboration system also enables connection to other related parties and key players like the National Police Agency and the government ministries. Since there is a real-time sharing of information, such as on-site reporting, status updates from affected areas and recovery status, response to these disaster situations are more immediate and efficient.

In addition to this, there were other more reasons why NEMA chose Polycom RealPresence Video Collaboration Solutions. Some of which are:
