Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) awarded the winners of the 2014 Samsung Mobile App Academy at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show last January 8, 2015. The 11th and 12th graders who won the program were given scholarships for the mobile application concepts they have used.
Application development is presently considered as one of the most infamous STEM-related (STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields. This is why after SAMSUNG’s summer mobile app and coding program, the company followed it up with the Mobile App Academy. This specific program was created so that the young professionals of the next generation will be encouraged to pursue careers in this important field.
In the summer of 2014, 11th and 12th graders from 10 different U.S. cities have undergone a three-day hands-on session. This is what the SAMSUNG Mobile App Academy is all about. Together with the leading experts in the STEM industry, students worked and collaborated in teams in order to understand and learn more about the coding and mobile app development skills needed for the mobile technology field in the real world.
In the session, Samsung Galaxy Note™ 10.1 – 2014 Edition tablet were given to the students for them to use it as their entryway towards the entire curriculum offered by the program. And finally, upon the completion of the entire program, students created and submitted their mobile application concept proposals, which focuses on the betterment of the community.
