Avaya’s Palpable Safety and Security Solutions at Maine’s Fryeburg Fair

Maine’s biggest agricultural fair and New England’s second largest, Fryeburg Fair, is one of the main events in the entire community, garnering 300 thousand visitors and more weekly. With how grand and large scale the event is, it is only logical to consider safety and security as part of the top priority in the entire affair.

Before Avaya was chosen to head the technical aspect of the safety and security measures in the event, Fryeburg Fair’s strategy is composed of 18 cameras, which were distributed throughout the location of the event. There are also police officers on site, who relied on the live feeds from the 18 cameras scattered in the location. The officers were instructed to monitor all the activities and respond appropriately to incidents related to public safety. That’s all that comprises their safety and security measures.

The Fryeburg Fair safety and security measures would have been enough if the wireless network was sufficiently fast and strong, to be able to support all the surveillance feeds. Outages are also unacceptable in order to have a full-proof security plan for the event. In addition to that, all of those more than 200 on-site vendors complained on the performance of the network.
