Carbon Disclosure Project or CDP, a sustainability assessment, which evaluates 3,400 companies, conducted their evaluation for Avaya resulting to a score of 83/100, a score way above the average line of all companies evaluated by the initiative, which was equivalent to 53 points.
The scoring system of the CDP includes carbon reductions and based off disclosure. Some of the Avaya customers which regard this sustainability initiative as relevant are:
- Swisscom
- BT
- AT&T
Through this, Avaya believes to prove that the company’s high sustainability score, is without a doubt, a big achievement for the company. Great offers of the company can be found in our store.
The year 2011 started Avaya’s improvement in its CDP score by making sure to continuously decrease the carbon footprint of the company. With an original plan of decreasing the company’s carbon dioxide emissions by 15 percent by year 2015, using the year 2010 as the baseline, Avaya outdid itself and announced the astounding reduction of 25 percent in the emission of carbon dioxide early of year 2014.
The reduction plan was 2 years advance in its completion. There were three factors which were considered to be the major players in the big emission reduction in Avaya. The use of Scopia technology in the entire company is one of most powerful factors in the reduction of Avaya’s carbon footprint. Together with maximizing the use of office space as well as the consolidation of real estate, these three factors reduced the business travel emissions by 46 percent since year 2011.
Despite the great reduction of the carbon footprint of the company, Avaya plans to continuously decrease the carbon dioxide emission, choosing to focus on its product distribution methods via ocean and land, instead of air method shipping.
Corporate Responsibility Director, Sara Broadbent, said that Avaya employees should take pride in the latest CDP score of the company because it is the proof of the company’s commitment to its customers, and that technology can affect the environment positively and can even be a part of the solution for climate change. By being aware of the effects company’s products in the environment, Avaya gives its customers the confidence of its obligation to them and to the environment.
