The Avaya IP500 VCM 32 Base Card (Part number: 700417389) is used for VoIP calls, SIP trunks and IP-based voice networking. The actual number of channels provided is controlled by the VCM Channels licenses (“Voice Compression Channels” for IP Office 6.0 or higher - offers all 32 VCM channels with 12 IP Telephony endpoints active; additional IP telephones can be added via license activation or for IP Office 5.0 or lower – that offers also 4 initial channels with additional channels up to 32 being enabled by licenses) to used for VoIP calls entered into the IP Office 500 system configuration.

Avaya IP500 VCM 32 Base Card also provides 32 voice compression channels and occupies 1 slot on the IP500 chassis (endow with 4 RJ45 ports,  which can be fitted with an optional IP500 trunk interface card that uses these ports for trunk connections – including IP500 Analog Trunk 4, IP500 Universal PRI 1, IP500 Universal PRI 2). To its’
maximum of 2 per IP500 control unit; 148 channel maximum using IP500 and or IP400 VCM cards.

Note: A VCM card is needed to support any VOIP Telephony on the IP500 (including IP handset to PSTN or SIP trunks etc...).  While, a Base Card supporting up to 32 Voice Compression channels, Plus, a R6+ all channels are active with no further licenses required. (Not compatible with the IP412)
